  • Switzer Lake/Skidmore Lake - Just West of Harrisonburg about 20 miles down Route 33 you land yourself in the George Washington & Jefferson National Forest. There are so many natural resources here we can't even begin where to start. However, Switzer Lake is a great place to opt for if you want to take it easy and still be surrounded by since views. You can also fish and boat/paddle on the lake and there is free camping allowed in the surrounding national forest.
